MEDIA RELEASE 3 March 2015
New online blogger directory provides one-stop shop for credible nutrition information
Storehouse is an online blogger directory of nutrition professionals, has launched today in an Australian-first, providing a hub for nutrition information and advice.
Created by dietitian Emma Stirling, author of the award winning blog Scoop on Nutrition, the new blogger directory will help people navigate often-conflicting views on food and nutrition by providing a go-to source of information from qualified nutrition professionals.
Storehouse will be free to use and free to join.
Emma Stirling, Australian Practising Dietitian and founder of Scoop on Nutrition, is excited to see Storehouse come to life to celebrate her blog’s 5th anniversary:
“In the age of social media where everyone is an influencer, it’s really important that people feel there is somewhere they can go when they’re looking for credible information backed by research and education.
“It’s also fantastic for the nutrition community to have a place to share resources and insights, and where they can help raise their own profile in the process.”
To ensure the integrity of the site, bloggers will need to be a Member of the Dietitians Association of Australia, an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), an Accredited Sports Dietitian (AccSD), Nutrition Society Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) or a student dietitian enrolled at a Dietitians Association of Australia accredited course. The membership criteria will also ensure the relevance and timeliness of each blog.
Development of the site was made possible by a three-way partnership between Nuts for Life, a nutrition education initiative of the Australian Tree Nut Industry to encourage Australians to enjoy a healthy handful of nuts every day, food and nutrition communications consultancy, Bite Communications, and Scoop on Nutrition.
Lisa Yates, Program Manager and Dietitian for Nuts for Life is committed to supporting nutrition professionals in Australia:
“We are simply delighted to see Storehouse come to life. It’s a platform that really showcases the talent and wealth of nutrition knowledge in this country. We’re also excited to bring all of this extensive knowledge and expertise together into one interactive hub, so everyone can source reliable, up-to-date nutrition information from qualified professionals.”
Each year Storehouse will recognise the best in the business, with annual awards sponsored by Nuts for Life recognising the Best Nutrition Blog and Best Food-tographer of the year.
Stay tuned for more information from Storehouse and the annual award series.
