Fig, Vanilla & Cinnamon Smoothie – Lucy Taylor

I’ve only recently discovered fresh figs – I literally don’t know how I made it this far in life without having one, but I somehow I did – and have developed quite a serious addiction (I guess it could be worse).

Figs are in season at the moment so I’m putting them in and on just about everything – I’m loving them sliced on toast with a thick spread of almond butter and on top of oat porridge, but my favourite use for them thus far is in a smoothie for breakfast.


  • 1 cup plant-based milk
  • A few ice cubes
  • ½ tsp cinnamon plus a little extra to garnish
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 large fresh figs or 3 smaller figs (aim for about 150g) – reserve a slice to garnish
  • 1 frozen or fresh banana
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp raw cacao nibs
  • 2 tsp chia seeds


  1. Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and turn up the speed to high until it’s well combined
  2. Top with a slice of fresh fig and a little extra cinnamon
  3. Enjoy!
