Pay it forward: my vision for Storehouse by Emma Stirling APD

Untitled designWow.  I can’t tell you how absolutely terrifying amazing it is to see my writers block, day dreaming vision come to life.  For a long time now I’ve been harping on and on about encouraging nutrition professionals to jump on board with blogging and social media.  I truly believe we have so much to offer in credible, online nutrition content.  And it took one equally overly enthusiastic visionary supporter in dietitian Lisa Yates from Nuts for Life, plus the fabulous team at Bite Communications, to help bring it to life today.

When I started blogging 5 years ago, I did it to teach myself the ropes and attempt to look hip as an ageing Gen X.  But most of all I started blogging to profile the fantastic posts by nutrition colleagues, many of whom did not have their own blogs. I’m a pay it forward kinda gal.

Now today, we have new online “nutritionists” every minute, even some “nutritionalists” too.  And my 12 year old YouTuber is going to outdo my social media following soon.  Social media has exploded with food porn healthy content.  It’s getting even more frustrating confusing by the minute for readers and for nutrition professional bloggers.  And there seems to be one big food fight about who’s right, when it come to nutrition advice.

But you know what?  There is no “right”.  There’s just science and reason.  And hopefully more than a pinch of good taste.  You may not absolutely love agree with every single post you read in the Storehouse.  And that’s absolutely ok. We respect your right to your own food views.  Sincerely, I really mean that.  But you will know that our bloggers have tertiary qualifications and professional nutrition experience to look at the whole evidence base and to report this to you ethically and credibly.

I’ve been tracking patterns in food fads nutrition for over 20years now.  And with all the stunning summer produce kale, chia, green smoothies and kombucha  I’ve been getting lately, I’m going to be around talking nutrition for at least another twenty or forty years more.

And if anyone says, what would Storehouse bloggers know?  I say shake it off.  Haters gonna hate.  Those of you who know me well, recognise I’m a positive soul.  I’m so excited about the future of  online shopping digital media. And I believe wholeheartedly in the power of community.  Of a healthy, happy community of readers and bloggers that come together to celebrate credible nutrition content.  If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of? Or even if you just pop by from time to time and pick what makes you happy, I don’t mind at all.  We can’t wait to get to know you at Storehouse.
